The demand of energy in the world is still increasing and remaining exploitable energy resources are continuously decreasing. We must save energy at every sector by all means and secure any supply other than fossil fuels. There seems to be no question that education plays an essential role in solving the energy problem. In view of chemistry education, it is important to promote the practice of the so-called 3R principle (to reduce, reuse and recycle). It is noted that scrapped metals, for example, are recycled with less consumption of energy and less discharge of pollutants, which implies that these are precious “resources-on-the-ground” brought from the underground resources.
