Dr. Werner Klotzbücher studied physics at the Technical University Darmstadt (Dipl. Phys., 1972)in Germany, received a DAAD stipend for a two-year research period at the University of Toronto (Canada) which resulted in a M.Sc. in chemistry (1974), and obtained his doctorate from the University of Toronto in physical chemistry (1979).
During his postdoctoral period at the Max Planck Institute for Radiation Chemistry he established a laboratory for low temperature chemistry. Since 1983 he is group leader on the permanent staff of the Institute, since 2003 named Max Planck Institute for Bioinorganic Chemistry.

In his lecture Dr. Klotzbücher will present the possibilities the combination of matrix isolation techniques with spectroscopic methods offer.
